Meet Newstead Smiles
Newstead Smiles is a dentist in the Brisbane suburb of Newstead. We look after its organic search and its Google Ads. Both exist to move a local person from looking around to picking up the phone.
The website is ours too. We designed and built a replacement for the old one, laid out so that reading about a treatment ends at a way to enquire.

The challenge
Newstead has plenty of dentists. The practice had to win its share of local searches, and its reports had to be honest about what was a click on the site and what was a booked appointment.
Several dentists within a short walk
A patient in Newstead has choices. To be one of them, the practice had to appear for the right local searches and then explain its services well enough that contacting it felt like the obvious move.
Not every searcher wants the same thing
Someone after a check-up and someone after whiter teeth are asking different questions. Each needed its own page, written for that question.
Enquiries the budget could afford
More conversions from the ads without the cost climbing with them, while organic search grew in the background. Visitor numbers alone were never the goal.
Our approach
For Newstead Smiles we combined SEO and Google Ads.
Authority for the pages that matter
- Won links for two pages in particular, the Newstead dentist page and the Brisbane teeth-whitening page, because those are the searches worth ranking for.
- Compared organic and paid visibility month by month to see what each was adding.
Google Ads for people searching now
- Ran the ad account as a second route to patients looking for a dentist in the area.
- Judged it on calls, forms and booking clicks, measured against what they cost.
A new website
- Designed and built the new site: simpler menus, clearer treatment pages, obvious ways to make contact.
- Planned its structure around the local searches we wanted to win, so the pages and the SEO pull in the same direction.
The results

Google Ads
In its second full quarter the account delivered more conversions than in its first, and each one cost less on average. The practice ended up with more enquiries while spending less on media overall.

- Increase in conversions
- 50%
- Reduction in cost per conversion
- 95%

Local search and the new site
The rebuilt website gave the local SEO something solid to work with. Local content and attention to its Google Business Profile took the practice to the top spot in the map pack for its main local search. Ad traffic grew as well, all of it arriving at the new enquiry path.
